Yes, if you grind your bud up and let it sit out for an hour before you smoke (or however long you wait) the oils in the plant material will dry out and trichomes will fall off of plant matter. May not be much of a difference in potency but it's there, and there's a huge difference in taste. The drier the plant material the harsher the smoke.
