Every day as you pass the window or go out to the car or whatever you will be looking at this installation. You have enough dirt to hold back you won't find large enough blocks at a big box store, you need a proper supplier.

As you have found out (sorry I was unavailable when you asked), 3" lifts means you lay 3" of material, compact that, then repeat as needed to get to your finished height. If you want it really compacted, you do 1" lifts and run over it with a sheep's foot compactor. You can get 99% compaction that way.

22 Compacting Crusher Dust To whack or not to whack - that is the question. Base for a 10000L water tank, concrete edging, 3.5m square varying depth from 50mm to 150mm. Tank supplier recommends mixing with cement and compacting. I'm not convinced that it needs to be compacted. Cost is not the issue. The crusher dust has been down about 10 days.
